BWL-304_CoverOn the last BWL fight of 2009, Eduardo beat League Champion Jennifer and therefore qualified for a shot at the Belt. So today, on the first mixed fight of the new decade, the challenger will face the Champion in the Pit, the most unforgiving venue in the BWL. Indeed, to win a Pit fight, one must KO his or her opponent.

So will Ed knock out Jenn and take the most prestigious title in the universe of fighting sports, or will Jenn be able to hold on to her title once more and KO Ed?

  1. Scorpion>Eloquently put; I agree with you in all respects.

  2. I like the way title matches are handled, it ensures the new champ has to really stamp their authority on the old to move on, the first fight works as a kind of teaser and set up for the real championship match that follows.

Like Foreshadow I’m not really a mixed fan so seeing the title fall to a male is a bit of a downer, as it removes the belt as a factor in matches I am interested but in truth i like more personal fuel/angles behind the rivalries than the basic bragging rights associated with a title.

  3. I like the way the title fights are handled.

  4. If that was the case, the title would change hands too quickly, and would lose it’s meaning, being passed around from character to character… and if someone held onto it for awhile without losing, like Jenn, then they’d seem uncommonly invincible. I prefer the dramatic tension of the two matches; should the Champion win the first match, she shuts down the challenge outright, but if she loses, then there’s drama… will she win the next, can her opponent win the next? It raises the stakes for both characters, and makes for a more immersive story.

As I’m not a mixed fan, and pretty much tune out the mixed fights, I’m pretty ambivalent about Ed being the champ now… it just means more Ed, in the end, and I don’t really have any interest in him as a character, so it doesn’t affect me at all.

  5. I wish the title matches worked how they do in boxing/mma/pro wrestling where if you win the title match, you get the belt. Having to win twice just takes the excitement away for me. The concept of a guy winning the title and having the women fight him for it is great for a mixed fan like myself, I just wish if he lost the title match the first time, he loses the belt. How does everyone else feel about how title matches are handled?

  6. Hey Jen had a good run and, I thought it was a good match. I am fine with it all good things have to come to an end.

  7. Realistically, is there any good way to lose? ^_-

  8. Disappointing! Not a good way to end a title reign.
